Magdalena Marie Walens

      Magdalena Marie Walens was also known as Madeleine.¹ She was born on 1 March 1809 at Fischbach, Mersch, Luxembourg.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Walens and Madeleine Feltes.

     Magdalena Marie Walens married Theodore Wink, son of Peter Winck and Maria Margaretha Offender, circa 1828 at Fischbach, Mersch, Luxembourg. As of 1828,her married name was Magdalena Marie Wink. She witnessed the immigration of Theodore Wink on 31 May 1853 at New York, New York; Aboard Ship Caroline, captained by James Conner. The ship left from Le Harve, France and arrived at the port of New York City. Page 5. Louis appears to be listed as Philippe, possibly his middle name.² Magdalena Marie Walens was enumerated in the census of Theodore Wink on 23 June 1855 at 48 Delaware Street, Albany, Albany County, New York; Film # 521922, First Ward, Page 165, Family 830.³ Magdalena Marie Walens witnessed the marriage of Nicholas Wink and Catherine Lasch on 28 October 1855 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Albany, Albany County, New York. Magdalena Marie Wink witnessed the baptism of William Wink on 14 December 1856 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Albany, Albany County, New York. Magdalena Marie Walens was on the census of 16 July 1870 at 44 Alexander Street, Albany, Albany County, New York, Enumerated with son, Nicholas Wink Page 107A, Line 25, Dwelling 845, Family 1793 Film M593-898.⁴ She was on the census of 16 June 1880 at Morton Street, Albany, Albany County, New York, Enumerated with daughter Maria and son-in-law, John Scherer. Listed as Margueretha Wink. Magdalena Marie Walens died at the home of her daughter, Mary and son-in-law John Scherer, on 24 July 1887 at 45 Alexander Street, Albany, Albany County, New York, at age 78.⁵ She was buried in July 1887 at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, 41 Jolley Road, Glenmont, Albany County, New York.⁶
