     Samuel S. Spalding was born circa 1805 at St. Mary's County, Maryland. He was the son of Thomas Spalding and Rebecca Yates.

     Samuel S. Spalding married Eliza E. Abell, daughter of John Abell and Ann Cole, on 8 February 1831 at St. Mary's County, Maryland.1 Samuel S. Spalding is the head of household on the census of 24 July 1850 at Election District No. 3, St. Mary's County, Maryland.2

     Samuel S. Spalding died at the residence of his son, on 4 June 1869 at Leonardtown District, St. Mary's County, Maryland.3
